Pomona was the goddess of abundance in Romanmythology. She was a wood numph, and her name originates from the Latin word for orchard fruit.

She was courted by the woodland gods Silvanus and Picus, but in the end, she married the god Vertumnus, who tricked her by taking the form of an old woman. A festival was held in honour of Pomona and Vertumnus on 13 August. She protected the fruit trees, gardens and orchards, and was one of the few Roman deities that did not have a counterpart in Greek mythology. She would often be depicted holding a platter of fruit or a cornucopia.
